Best Bark About France: Wetting the Eiffel Tower in the name of destitute dog kind!
Worst Yelp About France: In France, only between 100 000 to 150 000 dogs and cats are adopted in shelters every year, whereas 800 000 are bought in pet stores or from breeders. We need to change this! 'Dogs in shelters are not ill, aggressive, or bad looking! Most of the dogs at SPA shelter were just brought in one day because they were just discarded for no good reason (This is the big problem in most shelters!)
Having missed the ferry from Croatia to Italy really made the European angle of my Tour tight! Worst part of all, it only gave me one day in Paris. I have to admit that besides getting some hot shots at the Eiffel Tower, I managed to get the important stuff done – like bark on board the Woof Bus with the Brigitte Bardot Society as well as deliver a 25 kilo box of ROGZ collars and leads to the SPA shelter on the outskirts of Paris. If you really want to know my schedule, here goes. 4 am: Alarm clock. 5am. Catch train from Bern to Paris via some town. Lots of luggage, which luckily I am useless at carrying myself so I made train by half a second. Arrive 9 45am: No time for coffee. Find a luggage hold. News interview at station, 11 45: Sniff out a City Vet for my export permit to Russia –major hassles like terrible traffic jams and a taxi happy to take this hound included! 2 45pm: Meet 2CV vehicleat Eiffel Tower with new cameraman to shoot our visit with SPA Shelter. Get lost, got found, 5 minutes to bark hello, select an Oscar and deliver ROGZ goodies. 5 30pm. Arrive late at Woof Bus for City Awareness Tour for “ADOPT A DOG!’with the volunteers of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation. 6 00 pm: Lose my bark from woofing so loud (I met the most amazing and wonderful people on board the bus – really was great!). 6 45 pm. Finish Woof Bus, News interview 7 30: Finish Woof Bus, try and get a photo at Eiffel tower but light too bad. 8 -9 pm: Try and woof down a taxi that will let me sit in the back seat. 10pm: Arrive at station, collect bags. 10 30- 11 30 pm: try to find another taxi that will let me jump onboard. Arrive at airport hotel at Midnight: Check emails; pluck my woof-brows, bed at 1am. Alarm at 6am – and it’s off to Saint Petersburg! You’ll have to watch the footage to really believe that my day in Paris was even crazier than this!
A special bark of thanks to Constance at the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for helping to arrange all the volunteer for what was a ton of fun and big barking on board the woof bus through the famous streets of Paris. To Amélie de Roux
of 4 roues sous 1 parapluie who gave me the use of one of the 2CV to get to the SPA Shelter in style – sorry we got so lost, but it was kinda fun! Lastly to Francois and Mimoo for stepping in as the cameramen at the last minute when mine went for an extended smoke break. You guys deserve an Oscar! It’s in the mail…
